WWE Raw 5/28/12

WWE Tag Team Championship Match: R-Truth & Kofi Kingston (Champions) vs. Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger w/ Vickie Guerrero

Kofi and Swagger start off the match. Kofi does some kicks and hits a dropkick and tags in Truth. We see that Alex Riley is trending worldwide on Twitter. Hey all it takes is getting slammed headfirst into the wall to trend worldwide! Good to know! Truth and Kofi are in firm control in the beginning of this match as they knock both Swagger and Ziggler out of the ring.

we see that Swagger has Kofi in a submission hold. Swagger is in full control of Kofi as he bodyslams Kofi and tags in Ziggler who makes a cocky pinfall after an elbow drop. Kofi is looking for the hot tag and gets it to Truth. He clotheslines Swagger and then rolls him up for 2. He hits a DDT covers again for 2 as Ziggler breaks up the pinfall. Truth launches Kofi into Ziggler but then is rolled up by Swagger for 2. Swagger picks up Truth but Truth slips out and pushes Swagger into the turnbuckle. He hits his finisher for the win.

We are now greeted by John Laurinaitis who is on his scooter again and is accompanied by Eve and David Otunga. Michael Cole is kissing JL’s ass the whole time. JL does his opening spiel. JL mades Big Show vs. Brodus Clay official. He makes the Big Show vs. John Cena match at No Way Out a steel cage match. He says that since he beat Cena at Over the Limit he’s now the most popular superstar of all time. He unveils the new cover of WWE ’13 which has JL on the cover. CM Punk’s music hits and out walks the WWE Champion. One quick thing I want to say. Earlier in the promo jL messed up a line and Cole made fun of him. I thought Cole loved JL. Whatever. Punk puts gum in JL’s scooter seat. Punk says that JL and Pacman have one thing in common, no testicles. Punk unveils the actual cover of WWE ’13 which has him on the cover. Man I’ve never seen WWE promote a video game this far in advance. I think they said it gets released in October. Punk makes a double entendre saying his is bigger than JL’s. He says wrestler a couple time. Pipebomb!!!! Punk tells JL to get out of his ring so he can wrestle Daniel Bryan. JL, Eve, and Otunga leave as we find out that Punk vs. Bryan is next. Punk sets up JL’s WWE ’13 posterboard in the corner and then stomps it out of the ring.

CM Punk (WWE Champion) vs. Daniel Bryan

Punk starts off in control with an ambar. King is wondering where the Bryan fans are that always chant “Yes!” That’s actually a good question. Bryan is now in control with his own armbar. Punk comes back with an atomic drop.Punk has Bryan in some form of a back submission move. The two are looking for a backslide so Punk hits a backbreaker and gets 2. Bryan hits a knee into Punk’s left arm as he’s been focusing on that to apply the Yes Lock. Punk hits a crossbody on Bryan. Out comes AJ wearing CM Punk gear.

AJ is watching on the floor as Punk is laying some boots into Bryan. Punk goes for another crossbody but Bryan dodges it. Bryan has Punk’s left arm in an armbar but Punk kicks his way out. Bryan won’t let him loose though and does more damage to his left arm. Bryan hits a huge dropkick for 2. Punk is trying to protect his left arm but Bryan gets it and hits a suplex for 2. He continues to work on that arm. Good psychology. Little things like that matter. It gives fans more of a vested interest in the match. Bryan launches off the ropes but is met with a knee to the gut. Punk hits like a one legged dropkick and a neckbreaker for 2. Punk hits a running knee and goes for a bulldog but Bryan slips out but Punk rolls him up for 2. Punk hits a flying clothesline but only gets 2 again. We’re over 10 minutes in. I’m surprised that they are doing this match if they are wanting to have them go at it at No Way Out again. Punk goes up for the elbow drop but Bryan falls into the ropes and knocks Punk down. Bryan goes up and hits a superplex. It only gets 2. I love the superplex. Bryan goes and takes the pad off the turnbuckle while AJ jumps on the apron to tell the ref which distracts  the ref while Bryan takes the pad off. Punk gets another 2 count and runs at Bryan but Bryan launches Punk headfirst into the exposed turnbuckle. That gets the win for Bryan.

Christian vs. The Miz
Miz starts off in control laying some punches into Christian. Punk hits a move and covers for 2. He locks on the headlock. Christian starts to comeback but Miz quickly counters with his knee/kneckbreaker thing. He locks on a camel clutch type move. He rams his shoulder into Christian but finally Christian makes a comeback and hits a dropkick to hardly any response. How much has changed in a year’s time. Christian was in the World Title hunt and Miz was in the WWE Title hunt. Miz is a joke now and Christian is barely eliciting a response from the crowd. Cody gets pissed talking about Christian and throws his headset down and gets up. Christian goes for the killswitch but Miz pushes him off. It’s all for naught though as Christian hits the Killswitch and then Christian hits the frogsplash for the win.

Backstage we see Otunga, Eve and JL talking. Apparently Eve is in charge of Smackdown now. She was supposed to get Sheamus to apologize to JL but he didn’t. JL makes fun of Otunga for tapping out within seconds of being in the STF when he was in it twice and didn’t tap at Over the Limit. Good point that makes their bookers look stupid! Anyways Otunga asked to face Sheamus tonight which JL grants him. JL says that in 10 to 20 years when he retires he wants them to be his successor’s. But they have to prove they are tough like him.

Sheamus (World Heavyweight Champion) vs. David Otunga
I think these next 2 matches are going to be pretty short. Sheamus is overpowering Otunga to start. Otuna drops Sheamus’ neck onto the ring rope and then hits a clothesline for 1. Otunga goes after Sheamus’ chest with some chops but only gets 2. He keeps trying to cover Sheamus but only gets 2 counts. Otunga is looking pretty powerful. He throws Sheamus into the turnbuckle but Sheamus comes out and clubs him in the head. He hits his 10 chops out of the ring to the chest. Sheamus hits White Noise and lets Otunga gets up and his hit with Brogue Kick and Sheamus wins.
