Austin Backstage at SummerSlam

Steve Austin was backstage at SummerSlam. Austin is apparently still limping from his recent surgery as he joked on Twitter that he wouldn’t be doing a limp-in or a run-in on the pay-per-view.

Backstage News on Cena Calls CM Punk Lucky

 

WWE’s website spoke with John Cena after failing to capture the WWE Title at SummerSlam. Cena was asked if CM Punk is the best in the world. Cena called Punk luck and said he will try to get him on RAW.

Punk wrote the following on Twitter in response “I Love @JohnCena saying I got lucky. It’s not luck, it’s skill. With the odds against me, I won. Not once, but twice. Gotta #respect that.”

WWE United States Title Match : Antonio Cesaro vs. Santino Marella

We go to the ring and out first comes Antonio Cesaro with Aksana. Aksana takes the mic and cuts a promo before the match. She has Antonio say “great” in five different languages. Cesaro says he personifies greatness and they kiss. Out next comes the WWE United States Champion Santino Marella.
The match starts off winth some back and forth. Cesaro takes Santino to the corner and beats him down. Santino dodges a splash in the corner and pulls out the Cobra early. Cesaro hits him from behind and stop the Cobra from coming out. Cesaro goes back to work on Santino and beats him with headbutts. 2 count for Cesaro.More offense by Cesaro and another 2 count. Cesaro keeps a headlock applied. The Cobra was down on the floor but a crew member has put it on the apron. Santino crawls for it but Cesaro pulls him back. Santino kicks off him and tries for it again but Cesaro hits a big gutwrench slam. Cesaro grabs the Cobra and rips it to shreds. Santino flips out and unloads on Cesaro. Santino misses the headbutt. Cesaro goes for his finisher but it’s countered. Santino pulls out a back-up Cobra. Aksana tries to distract him and it works. Cesaro with the front piledriver for the win and the title.

Shawn Michaels Off SummerSlam

 HBK Removed from SummerSlam

WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, who was scheduled to be in Triple H's corner for his upcoming match against Brock Lesnar, will apparently not be appearing at this Sunday's WWE SummerSlam PPV as planned. WWE.com posted a follow-up story confirming HBK's "broken arm" and absence from this weekend's event.

Summerslam Pre-Show

WWE will indeed be hosting a 30-minute SummerSlam pre-show this Sunday. The pre-show video is now online at YouTube.com and will go live at 7:30pm ET this Sunday.It was also announced during Raw that Santino Marella will defend the United States Championship against Antonio Cesaro in a YouTube exclusive pre-show leading up to the pay-per-view broadcast.

Jim Ross announced in his latest blog that “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Mike Tyson are scheduled to attend this year’s Summerslam weekend function in Los Angeles.

Mysterio Appearing At SummerSlam Axxess

WWE.com announced Wednesday details for SummerSlam Axxess taking place Saturday, Aug. 18 to Sunday, Aug. 19 at the Nokia Plaza at L.A. LIVE. Among those scheduled for VIP appearances include CM Punk, Sheamus, Triple H, Randy Orton, John Cena and Rey Mysterio, who has not returned to television following the expiration of his 60-day suspension for his second violation of WWE’s Talent Wellness Program.
