Rock confirmed for Wrestlemania 30?

Press Conference To Announce A Major International Event At MetLife Stadium

After recent rumours that Wrestlemania 30 is going to be held in Mercedez Benz Superdome in New Orleans, another huge rumour has now caught up with every WWE lover on the internet.

According to WrestlingInc, Rock has agreed to not only participate but even committed to work in next year’s event. According to the WrestlingInc,

“WWE Champion The Rock has committed to working next year’s WrestleMania 30 event. Rock’s current run is expected to end in April as he will be heading off to Hungary and Croatia to film Hercules.”

This is great news for WWE and The Rock’s fans as the much rumoured feud between Rock and Brock Lesnar seems a possibility now. After Lesnar signed a two year contract with WWE, there were talks of a Summerslam or WM30 match between Lesnar and The Rock.

However, it seems that The Rock has a very tight 2013 schedule ahead of him and like last year, he will not be seen around until Wrestlemania. Hence, the possibility of a Rock and Lesnar feud will most likely happen in WM30.

A match in Summerslam however would have seemed extremely fitting as The Rock lost to Lesnar in the same stage nearly a decade back.

Rock and Brock may appear in Summerslam 2013

The news was seen in Wrestling Observer Newsletter, where Dave Meltzer wrote:

Right now, there is talk of using both Lesnar and Rock at SummerSlam. They want the Hollywood community to be part of the SummerSlam festivities, and Rock to a great extent and Lesnar to a lesser extent makes it seem to those who aren’t big wrestling fans like it’s a big event.

There are talks that we could possibly see a Summerslam repeat between The Rock and Brock Lesnar. If WWE somehow does convince The Rock to participate in this PPV, it would surely be another blockbuster event.

The Rock has commented on these resentments on Twitter. He has tweeted-

"Well said. Great to see so many guys backstage understand that what's best for business is best for everyone. Especially the fans."

The Rock wins WWE championship after 10 years

The Rock is the new WWE champion

Finally, The Rock has become the WWE champion after 10 long years. At the Royal Rumble PPV in Phoenix, Arizona, The Rock defeated the defending WWE Champion CM Punk whose record breaking championship reign of 434 days came to an abrupt end.

The Brahma Bull, who returned to the WWE last year after a brief period of exile to fulfill his commitments in Hollywood, took part in this emotional match with his mother in attendance. With the stipulation being that CM Punk will be stripped of his WWE title in case the Shield interferes, the match started with both men trading blows. The Anaconda Vice and the Sharpshooter were all to be seen during the course of the match. But after a while, as the Rock was about to go for a People’s Elbow, The Shield interrupted.

The lights went off, and out came the members of the Shield – Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. They triple powerbombed The Rock through a table and left ringside. CM Punk secured a pinfall victory. His joy of retaining the title did not last long as his celebration was interrupted by the Chairman of the Board Vince McMahon. As he was about to strip Punk of his title, The Rock interrupted and suggested for the match to restart.

The match restarted. Punk instantly went for the kill. As he was about to go for the GTS, The Rock countered and attacked him with a spinebuster followed by the People’s Elbow. The Rock went for the pinfall and won the WWE championship after a 10 years.

The Rock, who defeated Mankind in Survivor Series 1997 to win his first WWE (then WWF) Championship, is now an 8 time WWE Champion. Besides, he has also held the World Heavyweight Championship and the Intercontinental Championship 2 times. He is also a 5 time tag-team champion. The last time The Rock was a WWE champion was in 2002.

CM Punk on his surgically repaired knee

In his latest interview to MMAfighting.com for Ariel Helwani, CM Punk spoke about his surgically repaired knee and what he felt about it.

According to him, his decision to return to the ring so early was a bad one as his knee is still quite uncomfortable. He said he would love some time off from his hectic schedule, but WrestleMania meant things were planned otherwise.

During the interview, Punk showed a lot of respect for Rock and this was an aspect of his interview that I loved most. Also, when asked if he thinks he was better than The Rock, Punk replied ”If I’m doing this, I have to believe I’m better. I can’t go in the ring and think, wow this guy is awesome, he’s better than me”
